How to install accessiBe on a Volusion website?
Do you have an online store built in Volusion? Excellent! We have prepared a quick and simple installation guide to integrating accessiBe into it in just a few clicks.
Step 1: locate the "file editor" option in your dashboard
Once in Volusion's dashboard, hover the "design" menu item with your mouse, and look for the "file editor" option in the dropdown menu, as shown in the screenshot below, and click it.
Step 2: choosing your template or theme to install accessiBe in
Inside the "file editor", you'll find a list of editable files under the title "Shortcuts". The first one, under the "Theme Files" title, is always your active template's HTML file and it always starts with "template_" and ends with .html, as shown in the screenshot below. When locating it, simply click it, and you'll be prompt with a text editor to modify the HTML code of your template (don't worry, this is not scary as it may initially look :)
Please note: if you sometimes switch templates, there's a select box at the top of the page where you can look for other templates that are installed on your website, and install accessiBe on those as well.
Step 3: locate the appropriate place to paste accessiBe's code to
accessiBe will work wherever you place the code in your template, however, we suggest putting it right before the closing of the body tag, which is always the second line from the end of the file (as shown in the screenshot below).
Step 4: copy and paste accessiBe's code into your template
Once you have located the end of the body tag, you are ready to copy and paste in our installation code!
- accessiBe's installation code can be grabbed from your account at our website (you'll need one if you did not yet sign-up). If you need help finding it, here's a quick guide: How do I get a script to embed in my site?
- accessiBe is highly customizable and can easily be adapted to your website's branding by choosing colors, positions, icons, and shapes. This is done from the same place you grab the installation code, but if you need some help, here are a few guides that will help you get this done quickly: https://accessibe.com/support/customization
Ultimately, accessiBe's installation code should look similar to the screenshot below:
Once done, hit the "save" button at the top right, and refresh your website to see accessiBe's interface in all of Its glory!
This point is also when our AI kicks in and starts analyzing your website to optimize it for blind people's screen-readers and keyboard navigation for the motor-impaired. All-in-all, you can sit back and relax, accessiBe is now doing all the heavy lifting of the accessibility requirements!
